The Starting Line: Get to know me!

I'M BACK. The past year has been as complex as cricket. who wants to read about that anyway. Medical drama, moving, adventures with friends? More to tell later on. here's a little more awkwardness to my new intro, still learning to take my first steps to find my path, My path towards my dream.

Be a witness to my ball 4 sprint.

Hi! I'm Anna. Since I last introduced myself, I got married to my best friend, Derek (who also is a very big part of this page behind the scenes), and moved across our little town. I have one fur baby named Rizzo, after Anthony Rizzo- former first baseman for the Chicago Cubs. I am still a very big Taylor Swift fan, as well as Kelsea Ballerini, Paul Cauthen, Tyler Childers, and Alex Warren. I worked for the Nashville Sounds in the 2019 and 2023 seasons.

I was raised an only child of a single father, so I was raised a Cubs fan, watching baseball every year as often as we could. The love for baseball my father raised me with is what inspired this page. Over the years, my love for baseball turned from being just a fan to being a passion and dream. I've wanted to get into the sports world for so long, and I've thought a lot of what exactly I wanted to get into. I eventually decided I wanted to get into sports journalism, and eventually broadcasting. I've loved writing and reading my whole life, so it seemed like the perfect fit.

Years ago, I discovered the Savannah Bananas and knew they would be huge one day. I had the opportunity to work their first games in Nashville in 2023, and that was what finally inspired me to follow my dreams and start pursuing getting into sports journalism. Because I worked the games, I got to watch the players and cast warm up before the games, and I got the opportunity to meet and talk to some of them. Every single person I met was genuinely so kind and compassionate, even when there were no cameras or fans around. They all made such an impact on me, and that day I decided my goal was to work for that organization.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Bananas game in Nashville at Nissan Stadium, and I can definitely say it further fueled my desire to work for them. I'll have a whole post about the experience later this week, but it was truly everything I hoped it would be. We were in the 300s section, almost in the last row, but I didn't care. I was just happy to be there. It was my husband's first experience with them in person (he's watched so many games on YouTube with me), and he said he understands even more now why I want to work for them. At one point, he looked over at me, and he saw the tears in my eyes and smile on my face. He looked at me then and said "this is going to be your job and life one day", and I think about that every day.

After the game in Nashville, I had the chance to meet Jesse and Emily Cole, and I told them both how they inspired me in 2023 and that my goal was to work for them. They were both so encouraging and told me how to go about looking for jobs and how to reach out to them if needed. So for now, the goal is to continue building this page and see where it ends up leading me to.

As far as the plan for the page, the Bananas and Party Animals are splitting into two tours starting next weekend, playing against the Firefighters and Texas Tailgaters. Since I work a full time job that usually has me busy 45-50 hours a week, I don't want to put too much pressure on myself to write about every game. For now, I think I'm going to choose one set of teams to focus on per weekend and then alternate that way each week. Once I get used to being more consistent with it again, I'll start writing about all the games each week.
